Privacy policy

The short version: there are no accounts, ads or sign-up forms here, and nothing is for sale. Google Analytics counts visits so we can see how many people stop by, and you can switch it off at the end of this page. If you email us, we use your email to reply. That's it.

Who runs this site

turnbasedchaos.com is run by TurnBased Chaos, a solo indie game studio. For anything about your data, email admin@turnbasedchaos.com.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they read and how they found the site. It collects:

• the pages you visit and how long you stay
• the site or link that sent you here
• your device type, browser, operating system, screen size and language
• your approximate location (country and city), worked out from your IP address. Google Analytics doesn't store the IP address itself.

It sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_<ID>, to tell new visits from returning ones. They last up to two years. Advertising features and Google signals are switched off, so none of this is used for ads or linked to a Google account. We see totals and trends, not names or email addresses. Google keeps the visit-level data for 2 months, then deletes it.

Google processes this data for us and may do so outside your country. Here's how Google uses data from sites that use its services.

Rather not be counted? Use the opt-out at the end of this page. It stops Google Analytics on this site and deletes its cookies. Your choice is saved in your browser (clearing your browsing data resets it) and never leaves your device. Ad and tracker blockers, or Google's opt-out browser add-on, also work.

Email

If you email us, we get your email address and whatever you write. We use them to reply, and that's all: no mailing lists, no sharing. Our email runs on Google Workspace, so Google stores those messages for us. Ask and we'll delete the conversation.

Hosting and other sites

Our web host may keep standard server logs (IP address, browser, the page requested) for security and to keep the site running. We don't use them to track anyone.

Our X, Threads, Bluesky and YouTube links take you to those sites, where their own privacy policies apply. Nothing from them is embedded here.

Your rights

You can ask what data we have about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email admin@turnbasedchaos.com and we'll answer within a month. In GDPR terms, both analytics and replying to your email rest on our legitimate interest: knowing how the site is used, and answering you. You can object to analytics any time with the opt-out below. If you're in the EU or UK and unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to your local data protection authority.

This site isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If anything here changes (say, we start a newsletter), we'll update this page and the date at the top.
